Sometimes, even though I don’t realize it, my motivation flags. Because writing often involves long-term projects which require months of work before seeing results, and because, frankly, my income from those projects is modest at best, it can be easy for my gumption to dip. And although there are many ways to boost motivation, for me, one of the best is a long chat with another blogger who understands exactly what challenges and opportunities I’m facing.
So it was an absolute pleasure to meet up with April Harris recently. No, that’s not us in the photo: we were too busy enjoying our Beverly Hills salads and talking about the merits of iPhone photography to snap any pics. But in a relatively short space of time we also pondered…
- Tea at The Dorchester
- Pinterest traffic
- Book deals
- Nigella and Elon Musk
- Bullet journaling
- Hand lettering
- PaperSource classes
- Precious recipes
- Interviewing our parents
- Locations in the novel Saving Saffron Sweeting
- Our tendencies, as defined by Gretchen Rubin
…and lots more besides. In other words, an ideal mix of business strategy and the things we’re passionate about. We both agreed our energy got a big lift from the meeting.
If you haven’t yet visited April’s beautiful site which features a mix of recipes, lifestyle and travel, I encourage you to head over there now. Or, if you find yourself in need of a motivational boost, see if there’s a kindred spirit you can connect with, if only for a brief chat.
