Behind the Signs

As a writer, I think I’m more aware of signs than ever, especially those which are quirky, clever or hard-to-fathom. In reviewing the photos from my recent trip, I came across these:

During my stay in Aldeburgh, Suffolk, I even treated myself to a sign souvenir. It reads:

Today I will be happier than a seagull with a stolen chip.

…that’s a French Fry, in case if you were wondering.

And when I look around my home, I see signs there too. Everything from Choose Joy to I love you more than bacon.

It seems I’m not alone. I found this Pinterest collection specifically for village signs, this Buzzfeed collection of funny British signs, and even a site devoted to Sign Spotting.

How about you? Do you have a sign outside your home? How about above your beach hut? Or above your desk?

Pauline, I don’t currently have any signs up, but I do love signs and will likely have them up again. A much better souvenir than the typical items.
