Energy

Guest Post at 85K90

My guest post today at the 85K Writing Challenge combines two topics close to my heart: writing and serenity. 5 Ways for a Writer to Recharge discusses the benefits of pausing during the writing process, to avoid burnout and gather fresh energy.

The 85K Writing Challenge is a wonderful, comprehensive program which kicks off the year with participants writing 85,000 words in 90 days (January, February and March). April is then a “finish” month, ideal for recharging (or possibly a little catchup for an unfinished draft). This is followed by cycles for editing and preparing to publish.85K90 At a Glance | Pauline Wiles

If you’ve been thinking of writing a novel, or you’ve started one but could use a little more structure and a wonderfully supportive community, I highly recommend you investigate the resources and timetable at this terrific site. And don’t forget that self-care is the secret to a long and productive writing career!

    Pauline,

Thank you for sharing your insightful Serenity Project wisdom with the 85K Writing Challenge community. I was so encouraged by what I learned from your post. Hiking trips boost creativity by 47 percent? Yes, please! I begin my section hikes of the Appalachian Trail in a few weeks and am really looking forward to the opportunity to hike, connect with nature, and refill my creative well.

Any advice for writers with heavy backpacks and blisters on their feet? I suppose I should travel light and invest in good footwear. 😉

    Pauline, thank you.

    Julie

Julie, you have way more experience of the great outdoors so I’m sure your kit is well chosen. But a surprising lesson for me a few years ago, when I suffered from terrible running blisters: the problem was my socks, not my shoes. Maybe that’s a sign that wrinkles in our lives aren’t always what we think. In any case, enjoy that creative boost!
