Launch Date and Media Kit, Oh My!

BuntingI’m delighted to announce the official launch date for Saving Saffron Sweeting will be Friday, April 19th.

As an indie author, it’s a little difficult to keep a book entirely under wraps until a specific date, but if any of you get your hands on it and purchase it early, I’ll forgive you. πŸ™‚

To celebrate, I now have a super-duper media kit*, which contains a dauntingly self-important press release.

*2019 update: media kit is now archived

But, since you never know who – apart from the GoogleBot – is watching, here is the official announcement:

Debut novel spans five thousand miles

Redwood City, Calif. – Debut author Pauline Wiles announces the upcoming publication of her novel, Saving Saffron Sweeting, on April 19, 2013. The writer, who lives in Redwood City, set the book partly in the San Francisco Bay Area and partly in her native England.

β€œI love living in California, but miss England’s history, teashops and quirkiness,” Wiles said. β€œBasing a novel there, featuring both American and British characters, was natural territory for me.”

Saving Saffron Sweeting follows British designer Grace Palmer, who flees from California back to England after she discovers her husband is cheating with her best client. The tranquil village of Saffron Sweeting appears to be a good place to lick her wounds, but running away is never as simple as it seems… Sure to appeal to Anglophiles and any woman who has ever been tempted to escape her problems, this light-hearted contemporary romance features warm humor and plenty of British tea and cake.

Early readers say:
β€œThis is a lovely, real, heart-warming novel written with pure talent.”
β€œA very promising first book.”
β€œI read the whole thing in one sitting. I loved it!”

Congratulations; this is big news indeed! I for one think your press release skews more humble than self-important, but there’s time to work on the latter before the launch date if needed. Fingers crossed for many good things to happen before during after the April date!

    Thanks, both Vix and Vikki.
Yes, to the virtual launch party.
Press releases are such funny animals, especially when gazillions of (awesome) books come out each month. πŸ™‚

I like your press release. It reads like it was written by an actual human being.

Congrats on having a novel to announce.
