When we’re working towards a goal or lifestyle change, it’s tempting to think, at some point, we’ll arrive. But it’s important to acknowledge that no matter how many Serenity Topics I explore, no matter how encouraged I feel that I’m finally “getting the hang of it,” some days will simply be less serene than others.

Much like enjoying the journey without being too hung up about the destination, sometimes the sea of our serenity will feel choppy. Today, for example, the Wiles nest is being turned upside down and inside out, in the name of new carpet. A worthy goal, but hardly a serene experience. When you have days like this, hang in there… and trust that calmer waters will return!

    Pauline, excellent point – it will ebb and flow! And I think I will always feel stressed by the to-do’s hanging over my head and need constant reminders that there will always be to-do’s.

      Ah, Jean, I think we may be similar. I keep chasing the myth of “getting caught up”. I don’t think that’s humanly possible…

    Catching up is probably highly overrated. But I’ll never find out if that’s true 😉
